Genre: Electronic, Drum and Bass
Release Date: May 21, 2010
This week’s album is a recommendation from BattleBorn! Immersion is the third album from Australian drum and bass band Pendulum. I don’t listen to a whole lot of electronic music, but Pendulum is just one of those artists that I really enjoy, and Immersion is my favorite release of theirs.
As a major rock/metal fan, the thing I love about Pendulum is the fact that they blend all the synths and technology of electronic music together with guitar, bass, and drums, and create a very unique sound out of it. Not to mention that Rob Swire has an amazing singing voice.
Immersion features a lot of standout songs such as lead single “Watercolor,” which was featured on the soundtracks for the 2010 games Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and F1 2010, the two part epic “The Island,” which features a slow, melodic first part and a very upbeat second part, “Immunize,” featuring Liam Howlett of British EDM group The Prodigy, “Crush,” “Under the Waves,” “Witchcraft,” “The Fountain,” which features singer Steve Wilson of British rock band Porcupine Tree, “Encoder,” and my personal favorite, “Self vs Self,” which features Anders Fridén, Björn Gelotte, and Peter Iwers of Swedish metal band In Flames on vocals, guitar, and bass, respectively.
Take a listen to immersion down below and let me know what you think!
Album of the Week brings you an album to listen to every week. Maybe a new release, maybe an old favorite. My tastes range from alt-rock to technical death metal and everything in between, but if there’s something else you want to hear, be sure to leave your suggestions! Check out last week’s album!
