Album: Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True
Genre: Progressive Metal, Alternative Metal
Release Date: June 12, 2007

This week’s suggestion comes from Wes. I had actually never heard of Fair to Midland until they were recommended for Album of the Week. I checked them out and I have to say, I am quite impressed with the Texas-based progressive metalers. I haven’t heard anything quite like these guys before. They have a very chilled out vibe for a metal band and a unique sound.

The thing that really stood out to me was frontman Darroh Sudderth’s vocals. This guy can hit some pretty impressive high notes and just has a fantastic range. His voice just blends so nicely with the layers of guitars and keyboards.

Fables from a Mayfly is a great sounding album with lots of variety. After listening through, my favorite tracks are “Dance of the Manatee,” “Vice/Versa,” “The Wife, the Kids and the White Picket Fence,” “A Wolf Descends Upon the Spanish Sahara,” and “Walls of Jericho.”

Take a listen to Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True below and let me know what you think!

Album of the Week brings you an album to listen to every week. Maybe a new release, maybe an old favorite. My tastes range from alt-rock to technical death metal and everything in between, but if there’s something else you want to hear, be sure to leave your suggestions! Check out last week’s album!
